DFA'79
my ears are still ringing.
so I though I was going to miss this concert, as it sold out long before my lazy bum got around to buying a ticket. but mention that to the right person, and your on the guest list. just bring a bottle of wine to grease the door girl. and go to another concert today with her. hope it's not sold out completely...haven't bought that ticket yet either. they were sold out at one store I went to yesterday.
the show was really enjoyable. loud, but good. the bands included "The Floors" (who said they were from NYC...), some weird name who said they were from Sask., "Controller, Controller", and finally the duo of "Death from Above 1979". I have to say this is my first concert of this genre. loud, screaming, sweaty bands. but they seemed to love what they doing, and I respect that. they also end up making a bunch of what would normally be harsh noise into a fantastic song.... well, the word song implies I heard what they were saying. I am beginning to interpet these bands as more of a perfomance in which vocals are just another instrument, and isn't nessecarily meant to be understood. but this is good. i don't want to sound like I don't like them...they are very energetic and make you want to jump around and sing along.
