when i didn't want to go to school, i just didn't go. no one made me get up off the couch and go. it was only my loss.
i'm feeling the same way right now. i don't want to go to bed, then get up, make my lunch, and go to work.
honestly, i'd feel content to just lay there and stare at the ceiling for the next 6 hours before i should be getting up. but then to just keep lying there.
something is missing in my life it feels.
i just wish i knew what it was.

don't ever forget

In Flanders Fields
Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Cannonball | Calendar

Cannonball (Detail)

my car club puts out a calendar every year, so i thought i'd actually try and submit something for once. i'm fraid that they may be too different, as they usually art just some guys snapshots.

this one has been trimmed, some off the sides, so that the detail shows a bit better. the others will be the one of my car with the sunrise and Mt Cheam, and then the shiny one with the viewpoint from above. we'll see what else turns out before the deadline.

Paul | Floor Hockey

Paul

monday was the big draft night at floor hockey. just like elementary school where everyone lines up on the wall and the team captains pick one-by-one. i wasn't last! shawn, jb, steve, and i all end up on the same team - the decepticons. paul, the odd-man-out, is on a seperate team. there could be a guy or two he knows on his team, but he really wanted to be on ours once it shaped up the way it did.

we are the enforcer team for sure. there's a guy bigger than me on the team, and he was wearing a UCFV basketball t-shirt. we were bugging shawn that he may be too small for the team. but then again, we do have a couple quick little guys that should be entertaining. and we have the two great goalies. i have a feeling we will have a ton of shutouts.

we're already cocky too, saying that we'll win the championship. and if we don't, we'll just kick the crap out of the team that does in the parking lot afterwards.

JB | Birthdays

JB

so shawn had his birthday. he joined the 1/4 century club as my dad loves to call it. you can read his exciting rendition of his dayhere. as for mine, the quick and dirty. we went to the Martens' place for lunch and it was fantastic! good people, good food. i ate too much. then later there was a shindig at his place with some varied people. drinks were had. fun was had. i had to go home early, so i left at 11pm. well that what the clock said. after i set it back a few (three to be exact) hours. i just can never leave a good party. even when i have to work at 7.

as for my opinion on birthdays, and this is what i have learned in the past few years: they are what you make of them. you want a big party - throw one. you want to sulk about getting older - do it. just don't expect grand things to just happen, or that the day will go away and you won't get older.
age is just an attitude anyways, it's all in your head for the most part. after time, some things change, your body evolves, and there are some responsibilities one must attend to. but you're still the same person. keep your goals, aspirations and dreams going.

I love this comic strip. It's really the only one that makes me laugh out loud on a consistant basis.

Day of Action

Notice: International Boreal Day of Action
November the 3rd is International Boreal Day of Action. On Thursday this week concerned citizens around the world are asking Kimberly-Clark, their governments and other corporations to stop destroying our great northern forest - the North American Boreal forest, which "stretches from Alaska in the west to the eastern provinces of Canada and is the largest tract of ancient forest left in North America. Representing 25 per cent of the world’s remaining ancient forests, the Boreal forest is a globally significant forest."
