standard procedure

I love the fact that most men follow the unwritten rule of the urinal buffer zone.

I was at the movies last night, and in the post-flick rush to the washroom, I was the first in. (woohoo!) Here's how it all played out - text book perfect.

I took the stall farthest to the right of 5.
Second takes the middle, leaving me with my one urinal of space.
A thrid guy follows procedure, and takes the last truely available one on the far left.

We're all happy, but what about the fourth dude?
where does he go? the stall, just like the rules state.

and the fifth now? surely he gets to use one of the two free urinals?
nope, he get mine. I'm all done, peeing doesn't take that long silly!

aaaaanndddd......break!

Easter Long Weekend

Easter was pretty tame this year, though it was quite enjoyable.

trees on my street

I worked the Thursday night, and the Friday night. Friday before work I went for a walk with Gina down Whyte in the wonderful weather (okay, it was like 5 degrees, but for here, we have to enjoy every bit of weather where the temp is higher than zero). The place I really needed to get something from was closed (of course) so the wander involved a lot of window shopping, finally getting to check out the new American Apparelstore, ice cream at Marble Slab, and a smaller ring for my lip.

Whyte Ave.

My only dinner was at Kimmy and Joe's on Saturday. There was a small group of us "Abandoned" which included Matt, Jendie, Meghan, Mike, Jack and the hosts, and myself. Boy was there a lot of food. Thanks Kimmy! Thanks Joe! And thank you Jendie for the candy!

The Abandoned

The evening also included the usual few rounds of board games, which put Penises vs. Vaginas in Pictionary, some cards, and many rounds of Settlers. It was a great night. I really enjoyed myself hanging out with this circle of people, one I haven’t spent the most of time in the last year or so for various reasons.

I'll conquer you all...

Sunday was a day of not needing to eat…soooo fuuullll…until Robbie called after work and wanted food. Man I eat too much sometimes. So food and Halo filled my evening. And then a slurpee run at 1 am. I have always wondered why the newer Mac’s have seating in them, until I was using it for 2 hours while enjoying my Dr Pepper Froster and chatting with Gina. And then we decided 3 am was a good time for a movie. One has to do something while all that sugar courses though your system. I haven’t decided if she is normally this much of a night owl, or whether I’m corrupting her sleep pattern.

Gina

Easter Monday I thought was going to sneak by without too much happening, minus proofing an English paper for Crystal. It almost did, until good ol’ Mahe called and asked if I wanted to go for a pint. Sure, so off to Garnaeu Pub with all the other alcoholics.

easter eggs

The place was surprisingly busy. I some how missed Adam, a fellow employee at Steeps, when I got there, as he and his friends were all sitting in the corner. Nicky and Jordan with their friend Alex showed up after their trip to the movies. And an old acquaintance, Amy Lynn is working the bar again. What was supposed to be a couple pints all changed when Amy Lynn brought some special shots on her. This was followed by a trip to the bar for some more sampling. I can now say I’ve tried Ouzo, and Cointreau. I have had the “daily special” Sambuca for $2.50 many times before. Back at our seat we chatted with Alex and Adam and Nicky and Jordan and Amy Lynn and a friend of Adam’s I’ve met before but can remember his name, though I now have him hooked on The Bad Plus. Now Nicole wants some shots. I don’t blame her, Alex is a retard. And she is all alone with him – Jordan ran off. More Sambuca. And a Sicilian Kiss. And Alex tried footing Marc and I with their bill. Ass. Glad we know the bartender, she fixed it all. Oh the bill right… “A few pints” equaled $60….each. So what does a couple guys do when they are the last to leave a bar on a Monday? Go back to my place and drink more! Yeah Absinthe! And then play drunk driving Gran Turismo 4 until 5am….
this morning sucked, that’s all I have to say. Why I told you all this in this much detail I dunno, but I’m tired and have still no semblance of a regular sleeping schedule – look at the post time!?! I’m going to bed.

Jack.

erratum

I realised that I spelled moustache wrong in a previous post. I forgot the "o"... as a Canadian, I feel I shoulda got that one right for some reason..... I will now go drink a bottle of syrup for penance.

and this is only because of a fellow blogger used it in a title of hers today. "your dad has a moustache"

It was weird. I don't think she reads my blog. very creepy. but if you do, Raymi, leave a note!

ps: I shaved. tried leaving the bit of dirt, but that's all it looked like. I hardly noticed it, let a lone anyone else! damn dark w/ blonde facial hair...sorry no picture, wasn't worth it.

this was today...nice weather, eh?

awesome

so what's with moustaches? today I had the thought of shaving my "no longer a 5 o'clock shadow but not a beard" to what would look like dirt on my upper lip. now, i'm not a fan of the furry catepillar on the lip, and I have never quite understood the reason to grow one. men with them just have them, and will always have them, like my father. I could never recognize my dad wthout the ol' soup strainer. but why is having one portrayed as creepy or dirty? I think the same, but don't understand why? (except for my dad, he's cool.)

the weirdest part though was the attitude that swept over me for the next hour.... I said "that's AWESOME" and 'YEEEEAH!" for everything. and not in my normal voice, but in a deeper, strange voice that ended up hurting my throat by the time my lunch conversation was over. I even was saying it with an underbite, protruding my jaw forward with every "YEEEEAH!" I even think there was some hip thrusting in there too.

so I think there is certain power that comes from a 'stache, and this is what causes this creepy and dirty demeanor to follow men with a bit of facial hair solely on their upper lip. even the idea f one caused me to be overwhelme dby it for a period of time. I even asked my lunch partner,"who wants a moustache ride?"...and then followed it up with the obligatory "I do! I do!" while clapping my hands....

pictures | work in progress

Man, my posts are sparce...

I wish I could get my pictures onto this computer, and then be able to post them here.

oh well, I'll try again later. stupid Mac.

I have been working on some new stencils. actually, if you are reading this blog, there is no mention of stencilling beforehand.
Anyways, I stencil. Sort of. I started back at Christmas to make a shirt for a friend, and have been cutting on and off since.

I started again. The internal debate is whether or not to spray on the streets or just keep using them on shirts and canvas, etc...
But for now I will just keep cutting. It gives me something to do when I can't sleep, or don't go to class. I'm actually working on a series of sorts. It's all different people, all about the same height. My plan is to create crowds of different people. But I'm also working on other things, kinda like icons, more specifically for putting on clothes or other random things.

have a good one!

Teenage Killer Used Police Vest & Car

Good to see things are getting back to normal in the good 'ol US of A... maybe the war will end soon.

someone shoulda maybe mentioned anti-depressants make some teenagers suicidal. and if one is suicidal....

The following is a news item posted on CBC NEWS ONLINE at http://www.cbc.ca/news
____________________________________________________
RED LAKE, MINN.---A Minnesota teenager killed his grandfather, who was a police officer, then strapped on the older man's bulletproof vest and drove his police cruiser to a school on a shooting rampage that left 10 dead, the FBI says.

FBI agent Michael Tabman said 16-year-old Jeff Weise appeared to have been acting alone when he killed nine people and then himself in Monday's massacre on the Red Lake reservation, about 120 kilometres south of the Canadian border.

"At this time, we do believe he acted alone, but we have to explore all possibilities," Tabman said at a news conference early Tuesday afternoon.

"The nature of the activities would indicate there was some planning."

No motive has yet been uncovered and Tabman said he couldn't confirm whether Weise was the same person who posted messages on a neo-Nazi website months earlier using the nickname "Todesengel" – German for "angel of death."

No 'hit list' found: FBI
Tabman said police haven't found a "hit list" and Weise's targets appeared to have been random, apart from his first victims – the teen's grandfather, Daryl Lussier, and Lussier's wife, Michelle Sigana.

After shooting them with a .22-calibre handgun, he donned a bulletproof vest and police belt that belonged to his grandfather, who was a sergeant with the tribal police, and drove his cruiser to the school, Tabman said.

He shot and killed an unarmed 28-year-old security guard stationed at a metal detector near the school's entrance who tried to stop him.

He stalked the halls, killing a teacher and five students in a classroom and then wandering about "firing randomly," Tabman said.

When four police officers pursued him through the building, he shot at them and at least one officer returned fire.

Tabman said it's not yet known whether they managed to hit the teen, who returned to the room filled with his victims' bodies and killed himself.

Witnesses said Weise smiled and waved at some students after killing the guard and at one point asked a student if he believed in God before shooting him fatally.

That was the same question that teenaged gunmen allegedly asked students at Columbine high school in Littleton, Colo., during a shooting in April 1999.

Monday's incident is the worst school shooting in the United States since the Columbine tragedy, which left 12 students and a teacher dead, as well as the two gunmen.

5 students remain in hospital
Five teenagers remained in hospital Tuesday, two of them with critical injuries, and about 14 people in total were wounded.

Some victims were shot at close range and one student later died from a head wound, hospital officials said.

Two other students who were shot in the head and face remain in critical condition and have been airlifted to a hospital in Fargo, N.D.

Another teen got a bullet through the hip and two students were shot in the chest, but aren't in critical condition.

"I think there was an intent to kill," Tim Hall, the hospital's emergency nursing director, said at a morning news conference.

Teen suspended from school
Weise's relatives and others in the community have described him as a loner with a difficult past.

They told the St. Paul Pioneer Press that the teenager's father committed suicide several years ago and his mother had been living in a nursing home since suffering brain injuries in a car accident.

He had been a student at the school but was recently placed in a learn-at-home program because of a rule infraction that school officials would not specify Tuesday.

Complaints about school on neo-Nazi website
As well, someone identifying himself as "Jeff Weise, a Native American from the Red Lake Indian Reservation in Minnesota" posted messages on a neo-Nazi website, using the name Todesengel.

In the messages, which began in 2004, Todesengel writes, "I'm being blamed for a threat on the school I attend because someone said they were going to shoot up the school on 4/20, Hitler's birthday."

Later, the same writer says he was cleared as a suspect. He also complains several times about his fellow students and teachers, dismissing them as small-minded because they disagreed with his National Socialist views on racial purity.

The high school on the Red Lake Indian Reservation, about 400 kilometres north of Minneapolis, has about 300 students.

The reservation is home to about 5,000 Ojibwa Indians, who are also called Chippewa. The community operates three casinos and other tourist attractions.
