i know what you're thinking, and yes i do have friends. but i'm not making stories to share down the road. nothing to laugh about when sitting around having a beer. i have no bonds that are growing. if anything, the roots are dying. i am horrible in keeping contact with others. only when i can be physically around people do i try. friends in other places, i'm sorry. i do want to get better. but like i said before, i'm not a literate person, or i atleast don't do correspondence well.

hooooooooooonk!!!

it's funny. i say i'm not a writer, not a literate person. i like my art, my pictures and colours. yet i just finished writing two lengthy emails, and plan on writing a postcard before I go to bed. and these emails weren't short either. personally i felt they were kinda lengthy and only about my self.

but when it comes to writing here, on blogger, i never know what to write. i don't look forward to it. and hardly get any satisfaction from it. but there is something as of late i have be experiencing from writing to people. and i think it is just filling a void i have. it seems to just be babble, the proverbial verbal vomit, about myself. and it never seems to be positive, nor really negative. i told a friend that i was jealous of her rough time in Korea. she's not enjoying the 6 days a week in a place that is set in its ways. but she is there with her sister, living together, making the best of what they have. they are out in a strange world, learning about a different culture, learning about themselves and each other. to me, i see it as a time of sharing life with someone, being close, having stories and memories. friends are what life's all about. and that's why i'm jealous.

Kleercut @ UofA

Did you know that currently Alberta's largest university is purchasing toilet paper and paper towels from KimberlyClark (makers of Kleenex)- which sources pulp from Alberta's ENDANGERED Foothill Forests?

That's right...everytime one of the nearly 40,000 students, staff and visitors on the UofA campus uses the bathroom, they are contributing to the destruction of caribou, and grizzly bear habitat, without even knowing it!!

Give your BUM a voice....ensure that your wiping needs are not wiping out endangered forests!

It is time to educate students, administration and the public about how their consumer choices are destroying Canada's boreal forest.

Come out and find out more about this new campaign. The outreach will last only one month, and we need you! Donate an hour, or a day and help out on this fun campaign!

When: Monday Feb 27th, at 6:30pm
Where: CAB 273 (Central Academic Building) on Campus
Why: Cause we care! Oh...and 'cause there is over 80 campuses in North America running similar campaigns!

For more info, please contact Rebecca (info below) or check out www.kleercut.net

For those of you not in Edmonton...if you would like some guidance, Alberta focused materials or would like to collaborate on a campus down there, please let me know!

more ice racing

pre grid

the past weekend turned out to be a bit of a dissapointment in the racing department. it was supposed to be our enduro weekend, where we would have raced for 2 hours straight (1 hour for me, one for you dad). but the weather was the shits (too warm) and there was on;y a limited amount to races run. tha tbeing said, i still got 5 in for the weekend, where as dad only got 2. on the upside, i didn't spin out, nor get stuck. heck, i even had two podium finishes in my 3 senior races (a 5th, a 3rd, then a 2nd)! i even beat malcolm in the first two. only first two, as he didn't make it to the last one. he rolled his call 1.5 times in a racing-stud race. and if you're keeping count at home folks, i finished first in both my novice races (that would be the 5 total).

and a big thanks goes out to SG-1 for taking some of the pictures you see before you.

edmonton

on my off weekend between ice racing, i had to go to edmonton for a wedding, and decided to go by driving. so i took a couple days off, the friday and monday. i didn't leave until mid afternoon friday, which put me in edmonton, banging on a freind's window at 4am. so what do i do at 4am of the saturday of the wedding? call rob, go to keegan's, and stay up to say "hi" to michelle after her night shift. 3 hours of sleep later, i was at the infamous west edmonton mall buying clothes so i could look proper at the wedding i came for. why? becuse i didn't pack any dress clothes, duh... the wedding was short and sweet (sorry, no pics - forgot the camera in the jeep. this is the same reason there is none of the reception too. so if anyone has some they'd like to forward to me, that would be fabulous!). feeling underdressed in a dress shirt and pants and no tie, i headed out after and found a nice jacket to purchase and add to my skyrocketing bill for the weekend. the reception was wonderful and emotional. i told joe i wanted to cry, as i didn't know what other way to express my emotions for them. i didn't of course, that woulda been silly. the evening continued late into the night as the free booze flowed and we all danced away. the next day was the gift opening which i was delighted to have been invited too. i love being a part of such things. it makes me feel like a part of a family or something. then it was off to meet some peeps for dinner, and drinking and smoking (a fine cigar) at michelle's.
so the following day i should be leaving, as it is now monday. well, i hadn't got a hold of my old roomie, and therefore hadn't gotten any of my stuff - the whole reason for driving out. by midday i had given up on the idea of leaving town, and locking my keys in the truck sealed the deal. after an afternoon with the couple, we retrieved my keys, made dinner, and i then finally met up with jimmy and my stuff. after a 3 hour catch up session and custody discussion, i left my tv behind and headed to my cozy couch and caught a couple zzz's. i left in the morning before noon, stopped and stocked up on tea, and hit the highway by 12. the trip was great for the most part, but as you will see in some pictures, the highway took a turn for the worse on the Coq. i spent 2+ hours sitting waiting or trucks to clear themselves here and there and made it home close to midnight.

phew... that was long. sorry to bore you all. but you didn't have to read, now did you?

a few weeks ago, the season finally got started after a few delays. shawn, paul and byron also came up to lend a hand at the racing, the drinking, and the fun. i had a lot to learn in those first two days...

the top photo is dad doing what he does. nice, smooth, patient and consistant. the following is good way to sum up my weekend. my instructor said i had the most infractions for the weekend - i don't believe him. nope. in the picture i was stuck at the end of my race (for the second race in the weekend... out of seven mind you). after i had passed malcolm, i got all excited, and went to fast. you can see him passing me back.

it's time to shed the last few winters' pounds...
